Number of bankruptcies on the rise

After a continuous decrease over the last years, bankruptcies were up by 26.6 per cent in the second quarter of this year compared with the same quarter of last year, but there are regional differences. The total number of bankruptcies was 875.

So far this year, the total number of bankruptcies is 1 628 which is a growth of 3.6 per cent compared with the same period of last year.

The counties of Vest-Agder, Aust-Agder and Oppland had the highest percentage rise in bankruptcies, between 150 and 400 per cent, from the second quarter of 2007 to the second quarter of 2008. In the counties of Troms, Finnmark and Akershus the number of bankruptcies went down.
