Lowest number of bankruptcies in 14 years

In the past 14 years, the number of bankruptcies has never been lower than in the third quarter of this year. The total number of bankruptcies was 583. This is a decrease of 18 per cent compared with the third quarter of last year.

The counties of Møre og Romsdal, Rogaland and Akershus had the highest drop in per cent, with between 44 and 55 per cent fewer bankruptcies than in the third quarter of 2006. Møre og Romsdal also had the highest fall in total, with 22 less bankruptcies.

However, in the counties of Oslo, Buskerud, Aust-Agder, Vest-Agder and Sør-Trøndelag the number of bankruptcies went slightly up. The increase was highest in Oslo with a 12 more bankruptcies, or 8 per cent, compared with the third quarter of last year.
