Decrease in sales of motor vehicles

In September and October 2008 sales of motor vehicles decreased by NOK 1.4 billion, or 10.2 per cent, compared with the same period last year.

Compared with the same period last year, sales of motor vehicles decreased by NOK 2.1 billion during the first ten months of 2008.

The sales of petrol increased by 10.4 per cent in the first ten months of 2008 compared to the same period in 2007. Sales of petrol in the months of September and October were up by 8.5 per cent compared to the same period the previous year.

Retail sales up 4.1 per cent

In September and October retail sales rose by NOK 2.2 billion, or 4.1 per cent, compared with the same period last year. Retail sales increased by NOK 12.31 billion during the first ten months of 2008 compared with the same period in 2007, equivalent to a rise of 4.8 per cent1.

Wholesale up NOK 11.9 billion

In September and October 2008 the turnover in wholesale rose by NOK 11.9 billion, or 9.0 per cent, compared with the same period in 2007. During the first ten months this year, the turnover in wholesale increased by NOK 56.7 billion, or 9.3 per cent.

The figures do not include value added tax.
