Retail sales up NOK 11.9 billion

Retail sales increased by NOK 11.9 billion during the first ten months of 2006 compared to the same period in 2005. This is equivalent to an increase of 5.3 per cent.

Total retail sales in Norway during the first ten months of 2006 came to NOK 235.3 billion. In September and October, retail sales rose by NOK 3.0 billion, or 6.5 per cent, compared to the same period last year.

Wholesale up NOK 58 billion

Sales by wholesalers rose by NOK 57.8 billion during the first ten months of 2006 compared to the same period in 2005. This is equivalent to an increase of 11.2 per cent. In September and October wholesalers experienced a growth in sales of NOK 9.8 billion or 8.4 per cent compared to September and October 2005.

Sales of petrol and motor vehicles up

Compared to the same period last year, sales of petrol increased by 8.1 per cent during the first ten months of 2006. In the same period, sales of motor vehicles rose by 7.4 per cent. In September and October 2006 the growth was 3.2 and 10.2 per cent respectively.

The figures do not include value added tax.
