Sale of motor vehicles rose by 5.3 per cent

Retail sales of motor vehicles rose by 5.3 per cent the first four months this year compared to the same period last year. This is equivalent to an increase of NOK 1.1 billion. Total sale for this subclass was NOK 21 billion from January to April 2006.

Sale and maintenance of motor vehicles and petrol sale rose by 4.7 per cent or NOK 2.6 billion the same period. In March and April this year the sale rose by 2.6 per cent compared to the same period last year.

Wholesales up NOK 22 billion

Sales by wholesalers increased by NOK 22 billion, or 11.1 per cent, the first four months 2006 compared to the same period 2005. In March and April the wholesale rose by 7.8 per cent compared to the same period last year.

Retail sales up NOK 3 billion

Retail sales - with the exception of motor vehicles and petrol - increased by NOK 3 billion in the first four months of 2006 compared with the same period in 2005. This is equivalent to an increase of 3.7 per cent.

The figures do not include value added tax.
