Retail sales up NOK 14 billion

Retail sales except motor vehicles and petrol increased by NOK 14 billion in 2004 compared with 2003. This is equivalent to an increase of 5.6 per cent. In total, retail sales in Norway came to almost NOK 264.3 billion in 2004.

In November and December 2004 retail sales increased by NOK 3.3 billion, or 6.6 per cent, compared with the same period in 2003.

The figures do not include value added tax.

Sales of motor vehicles rose by NOK 14.8 billion from 2003 to 2004. This is equivalent to a rise of 18.5 per cent. In November and December 2004 sales of motor vehicles rose by NOK 4.7 billion, or 35.3 per cent, compared with the same period in 2003.

Sales by wholesalers increased by NOK 48.7, or 9.2 per cent, from 2003 to 2004. In November and December 2004 sales by wholesalers rose by NOK 12.3 billion compared with the same period in 2003. This is equivalent to an increase of 12.9 per cent.
