Retail sales up NOK 1.6 billion

Retail sales except motor vehicles and petrol increased by NOK 1.6 billion in the fourth period of 2004 (July and August) compared with the same period in 2003. This is equivalent to an increase of 3.8 per cent.

Retail sales increased by NOK 9 billion, or 5.7 per cent, in the first eight months of 2004 compared with the first eight months of 2003.

Growth in sales of motor vehicles and fuel

Sales of motor vehicles rose by NOK 8.7 billion, or 16.8 per cent, in the first eight months of 2004 compared with the same period in 2003. Retail sales of automotive fuel rose by NOK 1.4 billion, or 6.3 per cent, during this period. Sales of motor vehicles and automotive fuel rose by 13.6 and 7.6 per cent respectively compared with the same period last year.

Increase for wholesale

Wholesalers increased sales by NOK 29.1 billion in the first eight months of 2004 compared with the first eight months of 2003. This is equivalent to an increase of 8.8 per cent. The increase in July and August this year was NOK 7.0 billion, or 8.7 per cent, compared with July and August last year.
