Retail sales up NOK 2.3 billion

Retail sales - with the exception of motor vehicles and petrol - increased by NOK 2.3 billion in the third period (May and June) of 2004 compared with the same period of 2003. This is equivalent to an increase of 5.6 per cent.

Retail sales increased by NOK 7.3 billion, or 6.4 per cent, in the first six months of 2004 compared with the first six months of 2003.

Growth in sales of motor vehicles and fuel

Sales of motor vehicles rose by 16.7 per cent in the third period of 2004 compared with the same period of 2003. Retail sales of automotive fuel rose by 10.1 per cent during this period. Sales of motor vehicles and automotive fuel rose by 17.8 and 5.2 per cent respectively in the first six months of this year compared with the same period last year.

Good period for wholesale

Sales by wholesalers increased by NOK 22 billion in the six first months of 2004 compared with the first six months of 2003. This is equivalent to an increase of 8.8 per cent. In May and June 2004 sales by wholesalers increased by 11.2 per cent compared with the same period of 2003.
