Quarterly figures are uncertainOpen and readClose

Cross border trade is a sample survey. The uncertainty of the quarter survey is quite extensive, with about half a billion NOK. This means that if the total cross border trade in a quarter is NOK 2 billion, there is 95 per cent certainty that the real figure is between NOK 1.5 and 2.5 billion. Comparing two quarters is not certain and we try not to do it.

Yearly figures are less uncertainOpen and readClose

The sum of four quarters has an uncertainty in absolute figures (NOK) that is double than for a quarter. But the uncertainty reduces to a half when we calculate in per cent for four quarters.

Norwegians spent NOK 13.9 million in cross border trade in 2014. It is 95 per cent certain that the real figure of cross border trade was between NOK 13.4 billion and NOK 14.4 billion in 2014.
