Retail sales down 0.2 per cent

The seasonally adjusted volume index of retail sales decreased by 0.2 per cent from May to June 2008.

The unadjusted volume index decreased by 3.2 per cent from June 2007 to June 2008. In the same period, the value index decreased by 2.1 per cent.

Decrease in Denmark and Norway

A comparison of the seasonally adjusted volume indexes for the Scandinavian countries shows a decrease of 1.6 per cent in Denmark and of 0.2 per cent in Norway from May to June. In Sweden, the index increased by 2.0 per cent. From June 2007 to June 2008, the unadjusted value index decreased by 2.6 per cent in Denmark and by 2.1 per cent in Norway. Sweden saw a 2.3 per cent rise during this period.
