Slight decrease in retail sales

The seasonally adjusted volume index of retail sales decreased by 0.2 per cent from July to August 2006.

The volume index not adjusted increased by 6.4 per cent in August 2006 compared to August 2005.

The value index of retail sales increased by 5.1 per cent the same period.

Corrected indexes

The value and volume indexes for January to July 2006 are corrected. This correction makes up for an average of 0.5 per cent concerning the total index. This revision is due to corrections of errors in the initial data.

Increase in Norway

A comparison of the volume index among the Scandinavian countries, seasonally adjusted, shows that Denmark and Sweden respectively had a decrease of 0.6 and 0.1 per cent from June to July 2006. On the other hand Norway had an increase of 0.6 per cent the same period. From August 2005 to August 2006 the value index not adjusted rose by 6.6 per cent in Sweden, 3.3 per cent in Norway and 2.5 per cent in Denmark.
