The seasonally adjusted volume index of retail sales decreased by 0.3 per cent from July to August 2005.

The volume index not adjusted increased by 7.5 per cent in August 2005 compared with August 2004. Retail sale of new goods in specialized stores increased by 12.2 per cent this period. Sales of new goods in specialized stores include clothing, shoes, electrical goods, furniture and building materials.

The value index of retail sales increased by 7.0 per cent in this period.
