Stable retail sales
In December 2004 the seasonally adjusted volume index of retail sales was the same as in November 2004. The index increased by 2.4 per cent in December 2004 compared with December 2003.
The volume index not adjusted increased by 4.0 per cent in December 2004 compared with December 2003. Retail sales not in stores, which include retail sales via mail order houses, rose by 11.5 per cent in volume this period. Retail sales of new goods in specialized stores increased by 7.9 per cent. This sector includes clothing, shoes, electrical goods, furniture and building materials.
The total value index of retail sales increased by 4.6 per cent this period.

A comparison of turnover for retail trade, seasonally adjusted, shows that Sweden had a decrease from November to December 2004 by 1.4 per cent while in Norway there was no change in this period. From December 2003 to Desember 2004 the value index not adjusted, rose by 4.4 per cent in Sweden and 4.6 per cent in Norway. Numbers for Denmark is not yet published.
