Retail sales rose by 7 per cent

The total retail sales in Norway rose by 6.9 per cent in July 2002 compared with July last year. Grocery stores with retail sales of hardware, paints and glass had the highest growth, 13.3 per cent.

The value index of other retail sale of new goods in specialized stores rose by 9.9 per cent in July 2002 compared with July last year.

The volume index of retail sales rose by 4.2 per cent in July 2002 compared with July last year. The volume index of other retail sale of new goods in specialized stores increased the most, by 8.7 per cent.

Seasonally adjusted volume index

The seasonally adjusted volume index increased by 2.5 per cent in July 2002 compared with July last year. From June 2002 to July 2002 the seasonally adjusted volume index decreased by 0.6 per cent.

Changes from preliminary results

The final value index of retail sales for July 2002 is 0.1 per cent higher than the preliminary index published the 23r dAugust.
