11 per cent increase in sales of appliances

Retail sale of electrical household appliances, radio and television goods rose 11,3 per cent in terms of value in the period January-April 2000, compared with the same period of 1999.

Final Retail sales volume index for April is 0.3 per cent points less than preliminary figures published May 23. The volume index of retail sales for the period January - April 2000 is 0.1 per cent less than preliminary figures.

The value index of retail sales increased 5.5 per cent the four first months this year compared with the same period last year. The price index rose 1.6 per cent the same period. The seasonally adjusted index rose 0.1 per cent from March to April this year. Retail sales figures exclude motor vehicles and petrol.
