Increase in net assets

Norwegian net assets increased by NOK 959 billion from the 3rd quarter of 2014 to the 4th quarter of 2014. The rate of the Norwegian krone has fallen compared to important foreign exchange rates in the last quarter.

Norwegian assets amounted to NOK 11 738 billion, while Norwegian liabilities amounted to NOK 6 355 billion at the end of 2014. Compared to the end of 2013 there was an increase in positions by NOK 2 038 billion in assets and NOK 560 billion in liabilities. Changes in positions are due to transactions and other changes. The above figure shows a large increase in the net other changes in the 4th quarter of 2014. The increase is dominated by changes in the exchange rates.

Large positions in portfolio assets

At the end of the 4th quarter of 2014, the Norwegian assets of portfolio investment amounted to NOK 7 820 billion. The increase in equity is largely due to exchange rate changes, but also other price changes gave rise to the equity positions. The positions in debt securities also increased and were influenced by changes in the exchange rates. The Norwegian liabilities of portfolio investment amounted to NOK 2 786 billion at the end of the year.

Financial transactions

The transactions shown here are identical with the financial transactions published in the balance of payments. The transactions in financial assets amounted to NOK 583 billion and in liabilities to NOK 228 billion in 2014.
