Nearly 32 000 graduates

Nearly 32 000 candidates graduated from Norwegian universities and colleges in 2000/01.

More than 24 000 graduates were in tertiary education short and tertiary education medium, while nearly 8 000 were in tertiary education long and second stage of tertiary education. The majority of the graduates in tertiary education are females, since 19 000, or almost 60 percent, were women.

Educations in tertiary education short and medium have duration below 5 years, and include pre-school and general teacher education, engineering 3-year programme and nursing. Educations in tertiary education long have duration of 5 years or more.

Educations in tertiary education short and tertiary education medium were mainly completed by students below 25 years, apart from studies in business administration. The majority of these graduates were between 25 and 29 years and social work education where the majority were 30 years or older.
