Boost in turnover for passenger air and rail transport

Airlines had an increase in turnover of about 15 per cent from 2012 to 2013, with a turnover of NOK 34 billion the last year. Turnover of interurban passenger rail transport rose by 12 per cent in the same period to over NOK 4 billion in 2013.

Turnover of the industry section transportation and storage totalled NOK 361 billion in 2013; an increase of 5.6 per cent compared to 2012. Number of persons employed increased slightly to 153 000. The number of enterprises fell by 86 to 21 515 in 2013.

Turnover growth for land transport

In 2013, the industry division for ‘land transport’ had a turnover of NOK 75.5 billion; an increase of 4.1 per cent compared to 2012. Number of persons employed had a slight increase to 69 700 in 2013. The number of enterprises fell from 16 000 in 2012 to around 15 800 in 2013.

Continued growth for water transport

Turnover in the ‘water transport’ industry division grew by 4.2 per cent from NOK 136 billion in 2012 to NOK 142 billion in 2013. Number of persons employed reached 26 000 in 2013; an increase of 2.4 per cent compared to 2012. The number of enterprises constituted 1 760 in 2013.

Turnover growth for warehousing and support activities for transportation

The industry division for ‘warehousing and support activities for transportation’ had a turnover of NOK 93 billion in 2013 compared to NOK 88 billon in 2012. Number of persons employed increased by around 12 per cent to 30 152 in 2013.

Continued decline in number of persons employed for postal and courier activities

Number of persons employed in the ‘postal and courier activities’ industry division constituted 19 645 in 2013; a decrease of 708 from 2012. Turnover amounted to NOK 16.4 billion in 2013; an increase of 4.1 per cent compared to 2012.
