Decrease in inbound trips

Norwegians aged 16-79 took 2.9 million inbound trips with at least one overnight stay during the 1st quarter of 2016; a decrease of 24 per cent compared with the 1st quarter of 2015.

Calculation of sample uncertainty in 1st quarterOpen and readClose

The travel survey is carried out among 2 000 Norwegians between 16 and 79 years of age. A new sample is drawn every quarter.

The uncertainty calculated with 95 per cent certainty for the 1st quarter of 2016 is:

• Number of trips: Published value NOK 4.5 million. Interval: NOK 4.1 million to 4.9 million

• Guest nights: Published NOK 20.9 million. Interval: NOK 19.9 million to 21.8 million

• Tourist expenditure: Published value NOK 35.6 billion. Interval: NOK 31.0 billion to NOK 40.1 billion

From 1st quarter 2016 we are changing the definition of type of accommodation to fit the recommendations from Eurostat. You can find the new definitions in About the Statistics. We eventually will change all the tables with the new definition of type of accommodation.
