Norwegian lorries transported 4.6 per cent more goods in the 1st quarter this year compared to the same quarter last year. Transport performances increased by 7.7 per cent.

A total 60.4 million tonnes of goods were transported with Norwegian lorries domestically and 1.4 million tonnes goods abroad in the 1st quarter of 2014. The transport performance for domestic trips increased by 9.8 per cent compared to the 1st quarter of 2013. The tonnes-kilometre production decreased by 3.7 per cent for foreign trips in the same period.

The average transport distance per tonne for domestic transport amounted to 76.8 kilometres in the 1st quarter this year; 3.6 kilometres more than in the same quarter in 2013. The average travel distance in international transport went down by 53.2 kilometres per tonne to 512.9 kilometres.

The rate of empty kilometres driven within Norway increased from 23.8 to 25.2 per cent.
