Decrease for intermediaries of huts in 2003

In 2003 Norwegian and foreign intermediaries of huts arranged a total of 1.37 millions overnight stays in private cabins in Norway. This is a decrease of 10 per cent compared with 2002.

After a decrease of 15 per cent from 2002 to 2003, the domestic market fell down from the second to the third place among the largest markets.

All the largest foreign markets failed to come

The three largest foreign markets, Germany, Denmark and Sweden, all decreased compared with 2002. The number of German guest nights decreased by 10 per cent, the Danish guest nights by 4 per cent, while the Swedish market decreased by 25 per cent.

High percentage of foreign guest nights

About 85 per cent of the total number of guests nights, are foreign. In the other accommodation statistics the share of foreign guests nights is about 30 per cent.

Intermediaries of huts

The total number of guest nights at collective accommodation establishments and in private huts booked through intermediaries was 25.2 millions in 2003, 17.1 millions Norwegian and 8.1 millions foreign ones. The intermediaries of private huts had 5 per cent of the total and 14 per cent of the number of foreign guest nights.
