Among the 54.5 million airport passengers in 2014, about 9.2 million passengers were changing planes (transfer) or in transit. These are counted as airport passengers twice, and adjusting for this the number of passengers starting or ending a journey at a Norwegian airport in 2015 is almost 50 million.

Decrease in domestic traffic in 2015

Of the 54 million airport passengers, 32.0 million were from domestic flights, while 22.5 million were on international flights. Corresponding figures for 2014 were 32.6 and 22.4 million passengers. While airport passengers on domestic flights decreased by 0.6 million, there was no change in the number of passengers on international flights.

Slight increase in international flights at Oslo Gardermoen

The 22.5 million passengers that flew to and from Norway in 2015 is 45 000 more, 0.2 per cent, than in 2014. Behind this aggregate number, airports differ considerably. Oslo Airport and Bergen saw their international traffic increase by 401 000 and 43 000 passengers respectively. For Moss, Sandefjord and Stavanger, passengers on international flights fell by 165 000, 75 000 and 65 000 respectively.

Increase on international flights in 4th quarter 2015

Passengers on board at departure on domestic flights totalled 4.0 million in the 4th quarter of 2015; 0.8 per cent lower than the same quarter of 2014. On international flights, the number of passengers was 4.9 million in the 4th quarter of 2014; 1,1 per cent higher than the same quarter in 20141. Total passengers at arrival and departure were 13 million in the 4th quarter of 2015, which is about the same as in the 4th quarter of 2014.
