Fall in domestic traffic

There were 3.7 million passengers on domestic flights in the first quarter of 2013, a 3.6 per cent drop from the same quarter of 2012. The number of passengers on international flights was up 7.5 per cent in the same period.

The number of airport passengers in Norway overall remained stable at 11.6 million in both quarters. Passengers in direct transit increased by 12.3 per cent from first quarter of last year to 199 000 in the first quarter of 2013.

Private airports increased traffic

The six private airports not administered by Avinor, had an overall growth in airport passengers of 16.3 per cent from the first quarter of 2012 to the first quarter of 2013. The two major ones, Sandefjord Torp and Moss Rygge, had 17.4 per cent more passengers in the same period

The private airports of Moss, Sandefjord, Skien, Notodden, Stord and Orland had 6.2 per cent of all of Norway’s airport passengers in the first quarter of 2013.

More cargo

Around 3 700 metric tonnes of cargo was transported by air plane on domestic flights in the first quarter of 2013. This is more than 10 per cent more than in the first quarter of 2012. There is substantially more cargo on international flights with 20 000 metric tonnes in the first quarter of 2013. This is 8.1 per cent more than in the first quarter of 2012.
