Rygge domestic passenger numbers halved

A total of 38 004 passengers were carried on domestic flights to and from Rygge airport in the 3rd quarter of 2011. This represents a drop of 56 per cent compared to the same quarter last year.

The total number of passengers carried on domestic flights during the 3rd quarter of 2010 was 86 171, which is 48 167 fewer than in the 3rd quarter of 2011. Rygge airport recorded a 25.6 per cent increase in passenger numbers on international flights during this quarter compared to the same quarter last year.

Fewer domestic passengers at Torp

Sandefjord Torp airport had 3 400 fewer domestic passengers in the 3rd quarter of 2011 compared to the same quarter last year; a decrease of 4 per cent, while international flights showed a decrease of 20.3 per cent. This corresponds to 80 000 fewer passengers than the same quarter in 2010.

Record year likely

A total of 13 291 166 passengers were carried to and from Norwegian airports in the 3rd quarter of 2011. This is 755 330 more passengers than the same period last year; an increase of 6.0 per cent. 2011 is set to be a record year in terms of number of air passengers. Stavanger Sola airport had 1 025 372 passengers and Trondheim Værnes airport had 1 002 400 passengers in the 3rd quarter of 2011.

Growth in goods transport

A total of 4 000 tonnes were transported between national airports in the 3rd quarter of 2011; an increase of 23 per cent compared to the same quarter in 2010. A total of 15 500 tonnes of goods were transported to and from Norway and abroad in the 3rd quarter of 2011. Eighty-five per cent of all goods transported in Norway and from/to Norway from/to abroad are transported through Oslo airport. By comparison, only 714 tonnes were transported from Stavanger Sola airport and 488 tonnes from Bergen Flesland airport. This represents 4 and 3 per cent of the total 19 500 tonnes.

Small increase in capacity

There were 193 000 aircraft movements at Norwegian airports in the 3rd quarter of 2011; an increase of 2.4 per cent compared to the same quarter the last year. The corresponding number of seats was 20 000 000; 2.4 per cent more than the 3rd quarter of 2010.

Half of all seats empty between Stavanger-Bergen and Stavanger-Trondheim

The capacity factor was almost unchanged between Stavanger - Trondheim and Stavanger - Bergen during this quarter of 2011. A total of 50.9 per cent of seats were empty between Stavanger-Trondheim and 51.5 per cent between Stavanger and Bergen.
