A passenger here is one person and one flight. The number of passengers will thus be higher than the number of journeys every time a journey involves more than one flight.

31 million passengers in 2004

31 million people travelled through Norwegian airports with scheduled services in 2004. More than 25 per cent of the travels took place in the fourth quarter. Oslo Gardermoen was the busiest airport with a total of 14.4 million passengers. Bergen Flesland handled 3.4 million passengers, while Stavanger Sola and Trondheim Vaernes had 2.5 million passengers each.

Domestic traffic accounted for 21 million of the total passenger traffic. The largest airport with regard to domestic traffic was Oslo Gardermoen with 7.3 million passengers.

29.3 million of the passengers travelled on scheduled flights and 1.8 million travelled on charter flights. 63 per cent of the charter passengers travelled from Oslo Gardermoen.

111 000 tons of goods and mail were shipped through Norwegian airports in 2004. 69 per cent of the goods and mail transported through Gardermoen was in international traffic.
