Turnover continues to increase

The taxi industry had a turnover of NOK 2.1 billion in the 1st quarter of 2013, an increase of 3.3 per cent compared to the same quarter in 2012. The number of taxi trips also increased by 0.8 per cent during the period.

The taxi industry carried out 8.4 million trips during the first quarter of 2013 with a total of 145 million kilometres covered. This is 0.6 per cent higher than the same quarter in 2012. 54 per cent of the total distance was covered with passengers in the cab.

Higher earnings per trip

The increase in turnover also led to higher earning per trip, from NOK 247 during the first quarter of 2012 to NOK 253 during the first quarter of 2013.

Decline in number of hours utilized

The taxis had 8.6 million hours on offer during the first quarter of 2013, an increase by 3.6 per cent compared to the same quarter in 2013. Out of this, 3.2 million hours were utilised, a decline by 6.7 per cent from the same quarter in the preceding year.
