Continued increase in turnover

The industry’s turnover increased by 4.9 per cent between 2011 and 2012. The number of taxi trips and passenger kilometres, however, declined by 2.9 and 3 per cent respectively.

The taxi industry had a turnover of NOK 8.5 billion during 2012, a 4.9 per cent increase from the previous year. The total number of trips carried out during the year totalled 33.4 million trips, a 2.9 per cent reduction from the preceding year. The combined effect of fewer trips and higher turnover is a turnover per trip of NOK 257.4; 8.1 per cent higher than in 2011.

The total distance covered during 2012 amounted to 557 million kilometres, out of which 55.9 per cent was covered with passengers in the cab. Both the total distance covered and passenger kilometres are lower in 2012 compared to 2011.

Low capacity utilization

Out of the 34.2 million hours offered during the year 2012, 13.3 million hours were utilised, which amounts to an hourly capacity utilisation of about 39 per cent. This represents a 4.9 per cent decline compared to the preceding year.

Increased taxi activity during fourth quarter of 2012

Turnover increased by 7.2 per cent during the 4th quarter of 2012 compared to the same quarter in 2011. The number of taxi trips and passenger kilometres also increased during the period.
