NOK 58.8 billion turnover

Post and telecommunications-related enterprises had sales totalling NOK 58.8 billion in 1998, and employed 46 000 persons. The industry paid NOK 12.5 billion in wages and social costs, and had gross investments of NOK 7.5 billion.

Telecommunications

Within division 64, group 64.2, Telecommunications, was the largest in terms of turnover, with NOK 46.6 billion in 1998. The telecommunications industry had just over 13 000 employees and wage costs of NOK 5.2 billion. Gross investments came to NOK 6.9 billion in 1998.

Post and courier activities

The other main group, 64.1, Post and courier activities, had a turnover of about NOK 12.2 billion. Employment was nearly 33 000 persons and was thus clearly the largest in terms of employment. Wage costs were NOK 7.3 billion, while gross investments were NOK 600 million in 1998.
