More social assistance recipients

After years with decline in the number of social assistance recipients the number of recipients rose by 2600 in year 2000. Also the disbursements of social assistance increased by 250 billions.

The number of social assistance recipients increased from 136 320 in 1999 to approximately 139 000 in 2000. From 1997 to 1999 the figures show a decline of 20 815 social assistance recipients. In 2000 the disbursements was nearly 4.080 billion compared with 3.826 billion in 1999.

About the statistics

The figures are preliminary and based on information from approximately 95 per cent of the municipalities. Preliminary figures are not published for each county or municipality . Final figures for social assistance in 2000 will be published in October.
