Over 8 per cent increase in OAPs

Statistics on the Norwegian Labour and Welfare Administration (NAV) show that the expenditures on pension benefits increased by more than 12 per cent in 2011, and make up almost 38 per cent of the total transfers from NAV to the inhabitants of Norway.

The number of old age pensioners increased by more than 8 per cent from 2010 until 2011, and this is the highest increase since 2006. A total of 718 670 persons received retirement pension in 2011.

NAV decreased the working budget by NOK 76 million in 2011. This is the first time a reduction has been seen in the working budget since publication of the figures began. The number of contracted man-years adjusted for long-term leave fell by nearly 2 per cent in NAV from 2010 to 2011, to 11 931 man-years.

Only 87 920 persons received advance payments in 2011. This is a decrease of more than 19 per cent since 2006. The number of recipients of cash-for-care benefits continued to decrease, by more than 6 per cent from 2010 until 2011.

Since 2010 there has been an increase in the number of recipients of disability pension in Norway. A total of 306 650 persons received disability pension in 2011, which is a 3 per cent increase from 2006.

A total of 171 760 persons received work assessment allowance in 2011 and more than 77 per cent of these recipients also received follow-up decisions from NAV in 2011.
