Increased expenditures

New statistics for The Norwegian Labour and Welfare Service (NAV) show that the expenditures increased to NOK 10 billion in 2008. From 2006, the expenditures increased by NOK 1.8 billion or 22 per cent.

Responsible for NOK 300 billion

In addition to its own budget, NAV is also responsible for the administration of large public transfers, in the form of social benefits in cash, such as pensions, disability pensions and sickness benefits. The total transfers of NAV increased by NOK 17.6 billion last year to NOK 291 billion. From 2006 to 2008, the transfers increased by NOK 29 billion or 11 per cent.
