Prices of refined petroleum products rose

Manufacturing prices increased by 0.8 per cent from February to March. The rise was mainly due to higher prices of refined petroleum products and basic metals.

Prices of refined petroleum products continued to increase, and showed a 3.5 per cent rise from February to March. Prices of basic metals increased by 1.9 per cent. This development was mainly due to an increase of prices for non-ferrous metals. Food products decreased by 0.1 per cent, and chemicals and chemical products by 1.3 per cent.

According to the main industrial groupings - prices of energy decreased by 2.1 per cent compared with last month. Prices of capital goods increased by 1.3 per cent, and consumer goods decreased by 0.1 per cent.

In the domestic market manufacturing prices showed a 1.2 per cent rise. Prices of refined petroleum products showed the highest increase in the domestic market. Basic metals increased by 1.3 per cent.

12-month rate: March 2002 - March 2003

Manufacturing prices increased by 1.8 per cent compared with figures from March 2002. This development was mainly due to increased prices of refined petroleum and chemicals and chemical products by 27.4 and 6.8 per cent respectively. A decrease in basic metals and food products by 7.3 and 1.6 respectively counteracted this price rise. Prices of pulp, paper and products showed a decline as well.

According to the main industrial groupings - energy goods increased by 11 per cent compared with figures for March 2002, while intermediate goods decreased by 1.9 per cent.
