Domestic prices still down

Continuing the last month development the price index of first-hand domestic sales decreased by 0.8 per cent from June to July. The 12-month rate has been negative since July 2001.

Several product groups have recorded a price decrease since June. The groups with the largest downward effect were mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials with a decline of 1.6 per cent, and crude materials with 2.8 per cent.

12-month rate; lower prices for mineral fuels and crude materials

Compared with prices last July overall prices fell by 4.8 per cent. This is mainly due to prices of mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials, and crude materials. Prices of manufactured goods classified by material are falling as well.

Development of the 12-month rate

The 12-month rate for all items came from -6.5 per cent in June to -4.8 in July. The rate has been negative since July 2001. Some important product groups have contributed to this development, among others mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials, and manufactured goods classified by material.

The downward trend in the 12-month rate for the group food and live animals continued from June to July as well. The rate in June was 1.6 per cent, falling to 0.5 per cent in July.
