HICP down 0.2 per cent

The harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP) for Norway fell 0.2 per cent from July to August. Lower prices on fuels and lubricants contributed to pulling the HICP down, while higher electricity prices pulled the HICP in the opposite direction.

The HICP for Norway was 120.1 (2005=100) in August 2015, compared to 118.0 the same month in the previous year. The year-to-year growth was 1.8 per cent in August, up 0.3 percentage points from July.

EU, EEA and the euro area

Preliminary data for July 2015 show that the HICP was 120.7 (2005=100) for both the EU and the EEA, while the HICP for the euro area was 117.7 (2005=100). The preliminary year-to-year growth in the HICP for July was 0.1 per cent for the EU and the EEA, and 0.2 per cent for the euro area. The year-to-year growth for August in the euro area is estimated at 0.2 per cent.
