HICP up 1.1 per cent

The harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP) for Norway increased by 1.1 per cent from August to September 2011. The main reason for this was higher prices of clothing.

The HICP for Norway was 113.3 (2005=100) in September 2011, compared to 111.5 in September 2010. The year-to-year growth in September was 1.6 per cent, up 0.3 percentage points from August.

EU, EEA and the euro area

Preliminary data for August 2011 shows that the HICP for the EU and the EEA was 115.1, while the HICP for the euro area was 112.6. The year-to-year growth in the HICP in August was 2.9 per cent for the EU and the EEA, and 2.5 per cent for the euro area. In the euro area, the year-to-year growth for September 2011 is estimated at 3.0 per cent.

Detailed figures for September will be published on Eurostat’s website on 14 October.
