HICP down 0.4 per cent

The harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP) for Norway decreased by 0.4 per cent from July to August 2010. The prices on clothing and airline fares fell most, while prices of accommodation services rose.

The HICP for Norway was 110.7 (2005=100) in August 2010, compared to 108.9 in August 2009. The year-to-year growth was 1.7 per cent in August 2010, down 0.1 percentage point from July.

EU, EEA and the euro area

Provisional data for July 2010 shows that the HICP for both the EU and the EEA was 111.7, while the HICP for the euro area was 109.7. The year-to-year growth in the HICP in July was 2.1 per cent for both the EEA and the EU, while it was 1.7 per cent for the euro area. In the euro area, the year-to-year growth for August 2010 is estimated at 1.6 per cent.
