Low decrease in HICP

The harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP) for Norway decreased by 0.1 per cent from May to June 2010. The prices on electricity and clothing fell most, while the airlines fares rose.

The HICP for Norway was 111.9 (2005=100) in June 2010, compared to 109.9 in June 2009. The year-to-year growth was 1.8 per cent in June 2010, down 0.8 percentage points from May.

EU, EEA and the euro area

Provisional data for May 2010 shows that the HICP for the EU and the EEA was 111.8 and 111.9 respectively, while the HICP for the euro area was 110.0. The year-to-year growth in the HICP in May was 2.0 per cent for both the EEA and the EU, while it was 1.6 per cent for the euro area. In the euro area, the year-to-year growth for June 2010 was estimated at 1.4 per cent.
