Increase in HICP

The harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP) for Norway increased by 0,4 per cent from October to November 2009. The rise in HICP was mostly due to higher prices of electricity, fuels and food, while lower airline fares contributed in the opposite direction.

The HICP for Norway was 110.1 (2005=100) in November 2009, compared to 108.0 in the same month last year. The year-to-year growth was 1.9 per cent in November 2009, up 1.1 percentage points from October.

EU, EEA and the euro area

Provisional data for October 2009 shows that the HICP for the EU and the EEA was 109.9, while the HICP for the euro area was 108.4. The year-to-year growth in October for the EU and the EEA was 0.5 per cent, while it was -0.1 per cent for the euro area. In the euro area the year-to-year growth for November 2009 is estimated at 0.6 per cent.
