Decrease in HICP

The harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP) for Norway decreased by 0.3 per cent from September to October 2009. Lower prices of food, airline fares and fuels were the most important factors contributing to the fall.

Harmonized index of consumer prices

The HICP for Norway was 109.7 (2005=100) in October 2009, compared to 108.8 in the same month last year. The year-to-year growth was 0.8 per cent in October 2009, down 0.6 percentage points from September. See the consumer price index for more details.

EU, EEA and the euro area

Provisional data for September 2009 shows that the HICP for the EU and the EEA was 109.7, while the HICP for the euro area was 108.2. The year-to-year growth in September for the EU and the EEA was 0.3 per cent, while it was -0.3 per cent for the euro area. In the euro area the year-to-year growth for October 2009 is estimated at -0.1 per cent.
