Unchanged HICP

The harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP) for Norway showed no change this month, compared with the previous. The year-to-year growth was also the same as last month.

The HICP for Norway was 103,5 (2005=100) in October this year, the same as in September. The prices for electricity and clothing rose, whereas prices for food, specially fruits and vegetables, and for the group “transport”, fell.

Prices were down 0,3 per cent the last twelve months, which is the same rate as previous month.

EEA, EU and euro-area

The HICP in September 2007 for the EEA was 104,9, for the EU it was 105.0, while for the euro-area it stood at 104,7. The year-to-year growth in September was 2.2 per cent for the EEA and the EU, while the euro-area had a growth of 2.1 per cent. Eurostat's flash estimate for the year-to-year growth in the HICP for the euro-area is 2.6 per cent for October 2007.
