Marginal growth in HICP

The Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) for Norway increased by 0.2 per cent from April to May 2007. The growth was mainly due to price increases for repair and maintenance of dwellings as well as petrol.

The HICP for Norway was 103.2 (2005=100) in May 2007, compared with 102.6 in May last year. The year-to-year growth for HICP in May was 0.6 per cent, up from 0.5 per cent in April 2007. See http://www.ssb.no/english/kpi_en/ for more details.

EEA, EU and euro-area

The HICP for EEA and the euro-area stood at 104.3 and 104.2, respectively in April 2007. The year-to-year growth was 2.2 per cent for EEA and EU, while the euro-area had a growth of 1.9 per cent. Eurostat's flash estimate for the year-to-year growth in the HICP for the euro-area is 1.9 per cent for May 2007.
