Consumer prices up 0.5 per cent

The Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) for Norway increased by 0.5 per cent from January 2007 to February 2007. Higher food prices as well as increased furniture prices after January sales activities were the main factors that pushed the HICP up.

The HICP for Norway was 102.2 (2005=100) in February 2007, compared to 101.4 in February last year. The year-to-year growth for HICP in February was 0.8 per cent, down from 1.2 per cent in January 2007. See http://www.ssb.no/kpi_en/ for more details.

EEA, EU and euro-area

The HICP for EEA and the euro-area stood at 102.7 and 102.5, respectively in January 2007. The year-to-year growth was 2.1 per cent for EEA and EU, while the euro-area had a growth of 1.8 per cent. Eurostat's flash estimate for the year-to-year growth in the HICP for the euro-zone is 1.8 per cent for February 2007.
