Electricity prices led annual price growth

The Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) for Norway increased by 2.5 per cent from 2005 to 2006. The annual growth was mainly due to increases in electricity tariffs, while clothing and footwear prices helped to suppress the HICP growth.

Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices

The HICP for Norway was 103.0 (2005=100) in December 2006, compared to 100.8 in December last year. The year-to-year growth for HICP in December was 2.2 per cent, down from 2.8 per cent in November 2006. See consumer price index for more details.

EEA, EU and euro-area

The HICP for EEA and the euro-area stood at 102.8 and 102.6, respectively in November 2006. The year-to-year growth was 2.1 per cent for EEA and EU, while the euro-area had a growth of 1.9 per cent.
