Decrease in prices of energy products

The Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) for Norway decreased by 0.2 per cent from October to November 2006. The fall was mainly due to reductions in electricity tariffs and petrol prices.

Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices

The HICP for Norway was 103.6 (2005=100) in November 2006, compared with 100.8 in November last year. The year-to-year growth for HICP in November was 2.8 per cent, down from 3.0 per cent in October 2006. See consumer price index for more details.

EEA, EU and euro-area

The HICP for EEA and the euro-area stood at 102.8 and 102.6, respectively in October 2006. The year-to-year growth was 1.8 per cent for EEA and EU, while the euro-area had a growth of 1.6 per cent. Eurostat's flash estimate for the year-to-year growth in the HICP for the euro-zone is 1.8 per cent for November 2006.
