Unchanged HICP

The Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) for Norway stayed unchanged from July to August 2006. The prices of telephone services and sales of clothing and footwear decreased whereas the tariffs of electricity were the main positive contributor.

The HICP for Norway was 102.2 (2005=100) in August 2006, compared with 100.1 in August 2005. The year-to-year growth for HICP in August was 2.1 per cent, down from 2.3 per cent in July 2006.

Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices

EEA, EU and euro-zone

The HICP for EEA and the euro-zone was 102.4 in July 2006. The year-to-year growth was 2.4 per cent for EEA, EU, and the euro-zone. Eurostat's flash estimate for the year-to-year growth in the HICP for the euro-zone is 2.3 per cent in August 2006.
