Harmonized Index down0.2 per cent

The Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) for Norway declined by 0.2 per cent from December 2004 to January 2005. The decline was mainly due to the decrease in prices of clothing and footwear.

The HICP for Norway was 117.0 (1996=100) in January 2005 compared to 115.9 in January last year. The year-to-year growth was 0.9 per cent in January, down from 1.2 per cent in December. From December 2004 to January 2005, the HICP declined by 0.2 per cent. Please see the Consumer Price Index for more details.

EEA, EU and the euro-zone

The year-to-year growth in the HICP for the EU and the EEA was 2.2 per cent in December. The increase in the euro-zone was 2.4 per cent for the same period. Eurostat's flash estimate for the year-to-year growth in the euro-zone is 2.1 per cent in January.
