Annual growth in EEA of 2.0 per cent

The harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP) for the EEA rose by 2.0 per cent from 2003 to 2004. HICP for Norway increased by 0.6 per cent in the same period.

HICP for EEA was 116.5 (1996=100) in December 2004, an increase from December 2003 of 2.2 per cent.

The HICP in the euro-zone was 116.9 in December, and the year-to-year change was 2.4 per cent. In advance, Eurostat estimated the growth from December 2003 to December 2004 in the euro-zone to be 2.3 per cent.

For Norway the HICP was 117.2 in December, a drop of 0.2 per cent from November. From December 2003 to December 2004 the harmonized index of consumer prices increased by 1.2 per cent.
