Harmonized index down 0.3 per cent

The Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) for Norway fell by 0.3 per cent from July to August. The decrease was mainly due to summer sales of clothing and footwear.

The HICP for Norway stood at 116.6 (1996=100) in August this year compared with 115.3 in August last year. The year-to-year growth decreased from 1.6 per cent in July to 1.1 per cent in August. Please see the Consumer Price Index for more details.

EEA, EU and the euro-zone

The year-to-year growth in the HICP for the EU and the EEA was 2.2 per cent in July. The increase in the euro-zone was 2.3 per cent in the same period. Eurostat's preliminary estimate for the year-to-year growth in the euro-zone is 2.3 per cent in August.
