Annual growth in EEA of 2.0 per cent

The harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP) for the EEA rose by 2.0 per cent in 2003, the same as in Norway. HICP for the EEA was 114.0 (1996=100) in December. The year-to-year change in the EEA was 1.8 per cent in December.

The annual growth in the Euro-zone was 2.1 per cent in 2003. The HICP in the Euro-zone was 114.2 in December. The year-to-year growth in December was 2.0 per cent, down from 2.2 per cent in November.

For Norway the HICP was 115.8 in December, unchanged from November. The year-to-year change in the consumer prices fell from 1.0 per cent in November to 0.1 per cent in December. Figures for Norway from August 2003 to December 2003 are revised.
