EEA consumer prices up 2.0 per cent

The provisional harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP) for the EEA was 113,1 (1996=100) in August. The year-to-year change in the EEA was 2.0 per cent in August, the same as in Norway.

The estimated HICP in the Euro-zone was 113.3 in August. The year-to-year growth in August was 2.1 per cent, up from 1.9 per cent in July.

For Norway the HICP was 115.6 in August, up 0.4 per cent from July. From August 2002 to August 2003 the consumer prices rose by 2.0 per cent, up from 1.2 per cent in July.

The numbers for the EEA, Euro-zone and the EU are provisional from June 2002 to August 2003 because of an error in the consumer price index in the Netherlands. The numbers for the Netherlands are now revised back to June 2002.
